When I was born in Arkansas many, many years ago no one had been on the moon, no one had a computer and blog was just a mispronounced way of saying bog.

The Age Of The Blog

However, now if you don't blog you really are ready to be placed six feet under. It seems that everyone is blogging and that you must blog before you even brush your teeth. How did we go so quickly from a life of relative simplicity to the life of the blog? I will try to find some answers for us today.

Blog Instead Of Keeping A Diary

One of the most frequent uses of blogging, it seems to me, is as a substitute for the very old fashioned business of writing every night: "Dear Diary". Now it seems that either at the end of the day or the beginning of the day or even in the middle of the day one must put down every acim now  thought and extension of that thought so that it doesn't disappear into the ether. The fact that the blog is going to be public property seems to bother no one. If you blog it you can say anything you like and it's okay. So I have friends who really keep a very personal diary in the form of a blog which then is available to any and all and no one seems to mind or to care. It is a strange world, but this is the world of the blog!

Blogging as a Travelogue

Another way that blogs are often used is when people are traveling and want to keep their family and friends informed as to what they eat, what they see, what they hear, what they do, what they don't do etc. By blogging this information they only have to say it once and then all the world can have the benefit of the message. This way everyone is kept informed and there is no risk of missing out informing someone who should have been informed. Of course this does entail a certain amount of censorship if one really wants 'everyone' to read it. But more and more it seems that everyone reading it is not the issue, the issue is putting it in a blog so everyone can read it.

Blogging For Fun

Another way to blog is just to get something off your chest. You can write a blog literally about anything or anywhere or anyhow. There doesn't seem to have to be a reason for a blog other than the fact that if you don't blog you don't really exist. So in order to exemplify and justify your existence a blog on a regular basis is one of the best ways to make sure you belong to the human race in the 21st century.

Conclusion

Probably there really is no conclusion other than the fact that I must stop writing this article so I can go update my blog to tell everyone that I have written an article about blogging which they must read and then blog their reactions.
