A lifeguard certificate is a certification that confirms an individual's completion of lifeguard training and indicates that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively perform lifeguard duties.

I myself love swimming and lifeguard very much. It makes me feel free. Especially when I take a deep breath and dive under water, I feel like I'm cut off from the world for a while. Then I am completely alone, under water.

Do you also recognize this? For example, when I am on vacation, in a busy swimming and lifeguard pool or in the sea. Then when I dive underwater, I no longer hear the screaming and chattering. Away from the hustle and bustle, right? That swimming makes me happy, that's a fact, but what are actually more benefits of swimming? I went looking for: 'Why swimming is so good for you.'

Lifeguard and  Swimming is good for your muscles

While Lifeguard and swimming you move your entire body. Unlike, for example, cycling or running, then you mainly move your legs. Swimming is therefore also called an  all-round  sport. When you float on the water, your muscles put a kind of counter pressure, the water 'carries' your body and this means that you train all your muscles in a balanced way.

Swimming is calming

When you experience a lot of stress in everyday life, lifeguard and swimming is ideal for you. All your muscles relax. Of course you tense your muscles when you swim laps, but when you 'free swim' or let yourself float, you will notice that your muscles relax after only fifteen minutes.

You can clear your head and when you swim underwater you isolate yourself even better from outside stimuli. Afterwards you will notice that you are completely zen!

Swimming makes you happy

During swimming, okay anyway during exercise, endorphins are released in your brain. Endorphins are also called the happiness hormone, the substance gives you a happy feeling. By swimming and lifeguard a lot you are therefore more comfortable in your skin.

Swimming helps with rehabilitation

If you have sustained an injury, it is very likely that you can still swim. Of course it is wise to consult your doctor or physiotherapist first, but you can often do simple laps. When you have sustained an injury, you can often no longer perform many sports.

While swimming you do not strain many muscles and you therefore do not have to sit still during your injury. This is one of the reasons why swimming and lifeguard is so healthy!

Swimming is good for your lungs

When you swim laps, you train your breathing muscles. Your lung capacity will therefore improve. And the result of this is that your body can transport oxygen more efficiently. As a result, you are less likely to get out of breath during laps, sports or running.

Swimming is good for your fitness

Of course we just told you that you don't use many muscles during swimming, but this does not mean that you don't use the muscles. In addition to running and cycling, swimming and lifeguard is also a cardio sport. With a cardio sport you mainly train your condition. You will notice that your fitness increases enormously when you swim more often.

For example, try to swim laps at least twice a week.

Swimming helps with weight loss

Swimming laps is a good way to shed some pounds. When you train intensively for an hour, you lose 500 to 750 calories. The reason for this high fat burning is the amount of muscle groups you use while swimming and lifeguard.

For overweight people, swimming can therefore be a good first step towards a healthier lifestyle. It takes relatively little energy and yet you lose a lot of calories.
