If you decide to go into those places you have to be mindful that you're entering a chaotic arena of danger and threat

Diablo 4's Fields of Hatred PvP zones aren't for the average person, Blizzard says.

During today's developer livestream, associate game director Joseph Piepiroa confirmed that Diablo 4's PvP areas won't protect solo players from being ganked by bigger squads, however, there will be "bucketing" in position to prevent super high-level players from killing low-level players.

"The fields of hatred that people have in D4 are not a spot for honor, they are a spot for slaughter, so if you decide to go into those places you have to be mindful that you're entering a chaotic arena of danger and threat. That's the fantasy. That's what we're attempting to do."

"There are things in position in terms of the way we bucket players by level to make sure that you're not always going facing really through the roof level players in a very very low level. But when it comes to like, 'I'm walking into this space, can there be any guarantee that there aren't three people roaming around el born area looking to gank lonely people much like me?' The answer is, there isn't any mechanic in position to prevent that from occurring, so you have to be mindful of that after you're travelling here."

Unlike Diablo 3's controversial release, Diablo 4 may have a fully fledged PvP system in position when it launches on June 6. Separated into distinct zones called Fields of Hatred, Diablo 4 PvP will let daring adventurers loose in to the Wild West of Sanctuary, where although players free and openly kill one another, however they can also take your loot.

Fields of Hatred aren't just PvP-exclusive arenas; they're huge areas to understand more about with their own PvE activities to accomplish and an exclusive currency to earn called Shards of Hatred. And here's in which the risk vs. reward element is available in. Once you've collected a Shard of Hatred, you will be marked as hostile into the spotlight and become an excellent target for other squads, who by killing you may have the chance to take any Shards you've collected. However, if you manage to really make it to an altar until then, you are able to cleanse your Shards of Hatred and also at that point, they're yours to help keep whether or not you die.

Piepiora wasn't specific about how exactly Diablo 4 may prevent high-level players from griefing low-level players, but he did clarify the Fields of Hatred are big enough that you simply probably won't run in to the same player twice in exactly the same session.

Blizzard confirmed today that there are another developer livestream happening in "early May," but it is unlikely to touch on PvP very much, as it is confirmed to become focused on the seasonal progression system and battle pass.

There's additionally a new Diablo 4 open beta happening in May.
