According to a statement from India’s Ministry of Communications, it is aimed at facilitating e-commerce exports.

The ITPS is a competitive service for the transmission and delivery of packets that has been developed to satisfy the cross-border shipping needs of online retailers, such as MSMEs, small enterprises, and merchants, among others, to encourage the export of their goods through regional post offices.

This service is already offered by India Post with 38 partner nations, and Canada is the newest addition, making it the 39th. From June 1, 2023, the service was expanded from 16 to 38 countries by bringing on 22 new partners, including the UK, France, the UAE, Egypt, and Oman.

In comparison to International EMS (Speed Post) and other market items, the ITPS rates are kept very affordable. The first 50 gm of postage would cost US$ 4.88 (Rs. 400), and each additional 50 gm would cost US$ 0.43 (Rs. 35). Exporters will be benefitted from a low-cost shipping option of up to 2 kg as well as pick-up and a volume-based discount for contractual customers.
